The Ministry of Information in cooperation with the National Radio and Television Administration of the People’s Republic of China is providing training to 68 IT and engineering staff members of the Ministry on digital radio and television broadcast.The 21-day training program will include production of technology assisted television programs, graphics and post-production, television script, studio installment, digital land transmission of television programs and other related topics.
Mr. Yemane Gebremeskel, Minister of Information, said that this course is a continuation of a similar training programme that was conducted last year and it could not have occurred at a more propitious time. Minister Yemane added, “The current training programme will be seful in two respects. First, it will offer to our Engineering and IT staff, a broad, introductory, overview of the spectrum of fundamental theories and technical practices involved in the digital production and broadcasting of television and radio services. Secondly,it can serve as a pilot project to gauge existing capacity and better identify the training needs and gaps for the implementation of the Digital Migration Project which is already underway.” Mr. Yang Zigang, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, on his part expressed expectation that the training programme will make significant contribution to the introduction of digital technology in the radio and television programs of the Ministry.
Mr. Chang Jin, Consultant of the Chinese National Radio and TV Administration, also noted that the training being provided in Eritrea has significant advantage in including more staff members
of the Ministry.
