Messages of congratulations
Asmara, 25 May 2020 – The leaders of Ethiopia, the United States, Swiss Federation, Sweden, Republic of Sri Lanka and Republic of Croatia sent messages of congratulations to the people and Government of Eritrea in connection with the 29th Independence Day anniversary.
The leaders of China, Kenya and India as well as the Chairman of the Commission of the African Union sent messages of congratulations to the people and Government of Eritrea in connection with the 29th Independence Day anniversary.
In his congratulation message to the people and Government of Eritrea, Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed of the Federal Democratic of Ethiopia wished good health to President Isaias Afwerki and peace and prosperity to the Eritrean people.
Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed also expressed his confidence that the fraternal relations existing between the two countries will be further strengthened for mutual benefit of the two sisterly countries.
Congratulating on behalf of the American people, President Donald J. Trump said that in the difficult time with a pandemic creating great suffering around the world, it is important to remember the bright occasion that unify and uplift the spirit of the peoples of the world and that the celebration of Eritrea’s independence is a chance to reflect on the meaning of freedom to all people.
President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China, President Uhuru Kenyatta of the Republic of Kenya, President Ram Nath Kovind of India and Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairman of the Commission of the African Union, wished good health to President Isaias Afwerki and peace and prosperity to the Eritrean people.
President Simonetta Sommaruga of the Swiss Federation, King Carl Gustav R of Sweden, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa of the Republic of Sri Lanka and Zoran Milanovic of the Republic of Croatia also wished good health to President Isaias Afwerki and peace and prosperity to the people of Eritrea.
The leaders also expressed their countries readiness to develop friendly relations and cooperation with Eritrea.

President Uhuru Kenyatta on his part said that Eritrea and Kenya enjoy cordial relations founded on shared values, principles and aspirations for socio-economic transformation for the wellbeing and prosperity of the two peoples and expressed commitment to work for elevating the relations to strategic cooperation for mutual benefit of the two peoples.
