Prime Minister’s Office Press Secretary Bilene Seyoum said Mekelle residents are cooperating with the army after Mekelle took control of the country.
Speaking to Sky News, the press secretary said the government has completed its law enforcement campaign in Tigray State.
She told Sky News that had been able to take control of the city without harming civilians because of a precautionary military strategy.
The state administration office, airports and health facilities and infrastructure are currently under the control of the Federal Command Post, ENA reported, citing Sky News.
The press secretary said the infrastructure will soon be reopened to users who have been disconnected.
The junta group was not ready to accept the government’s efforts over the past two years to resolve differences through dialogue, the press secretary said.
She said the TPLF, which was not ready for peace, was trying to resolve the issue internationally through negotiations, but at home it was engaged in destructive activities.
She added there would be no negotiations with the criminal group that attacked the Defense Forces.The next steps of the government in the state would be to arrest and prosecute the TPLF junta.
