Ethiopian Refugee and Returnees Affairs Agency says TPLF is attacking Eritrean refugee camps in Tigray
Tesfahun Gobezai, Director General of the Ethiopian Refugee and Repatriation Agency, told ETV that the TPLF is attacking Eritrean refugee camps in the Tigray region.
Four Eritrean refugee camps in the Tigray region were attacked, Hitsats, Shimelba, Maini and Adiharush.
“We have evacuated some 9,000 refugees from the most vulnerable camps and relocated them. ” said Director General Tesfahun.
“According to our information so far, there are 23,666 Eritrean refugees in the two refugee camps. We could not provide any services to the refugees after June.
“We have information that at least eight people have been killed,” “and heavy weapons such as cannons have been planted in the refugee camps,”
The two camps are under TPLF control, he said it was clear who was responsible.
Tesfahun called on international organizations to fulfill their responsibilities and free the refugees.
