16 Mar 2019 – (EP) Eritrea won the first ever Mixed Relay Elite Race at the 14th African continental road championship in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia.


The new event called TTT Mixed Relay. With national Teams consisting of three male and three woman riders, Team Eritrea was made up of Daniel Teklehaimanot, Meron Teshome, Yacob Debesay, Mosana Debesay, Desit Kidane and Zenab Fesum.

The mixed relay was run over two laps of a 12 km, with the women riding the first loop. The men set off once the second rider in the women’s team crossed the line.

Team Eritrea with the overall quickest time won the race, followed by Rwanda and Ethiopia.
