18 July 2018 – The Eritrean government has released hundreds of Pentecostal Church followers from Mai-Serwa prison.
In 2002, the government had passed a law prohibiting religious organizations other than the Orthodox, Catholic, Evangelical Lutheran Churches, and Sunni Islam in Eritrea.

It is to remember that, in the 1998-2000 border war between Eritrea and Ethiopia, the Eritrean Pentecostal Church had ordered its followers not to serve in the military.
