Eritrea re-elected for 2nd term on UN Human Rights Council
Eritrea just re-elected for 2nd term on UN Human Rights Council. 144 votes in favor. New three-year term will begin in January 2022. Congratulations to the country and people.
The HRC consists of 47 Member States and is an intergovernmental body that reports directly to the UN General Assembly.
Eritrea’s candidature for re-election was endorsed by African Union’s Executive Council at 38th ordinary session.
Eritrea emerged out of a long, difficult struggle for human rights. It believes that dialogue & cooperation, rather than confrontation and double-standards, enhance the effectiveness of global human rights mechanisms.
